Superior Care with a Full Time On Site Manager, Affordable Price Options
Located on 24 rolling acres in central Connecticut, Mooreland Equestrian Center offers full board for horses and ponies, a full educational program, parties and events featuring our horses and ponies, leasing and sales.
The facility, which we took over in January, 2010, has a rich history in the community and has been an active horse stable and lesson program since the 1950s. The barn offers a relaxed atmosphere for both horses and riders. Our turnout areas are maintained to ensure your horse has the best possible turnout experience throughout the year. When you are not riding you can enjoy the beautiful views and quiet, shady picnic areas.
Boarding is an important part of our business and we take it seriously. We have a combined total of over 50 years of experience with horses and ponies and extensive experience with older horses and ponies and their special needs. We will work with your farrier and vet to address any special needs your horse may have.
We get to know your horse’s unique personality and pair them with other horses with similar nutritional and health needs both inside the barn and in the fields. We take our time introducing horses to the larger group and to the facility to ensure a happy and smooth transition to a new place.
Our working staff are trained to respect the monetary and emotional commitment you have made to your horse and are trained to handle them in a consistent and predictable way. They are our “second eyes” and always on the lookout for any issues that may impact your horse’s health or general welfare.
We don’t just tell them what to do, we teach them why we do things so that they can take better care of the animals in our care.
Getting Back to Basics
Horses don’t care about indoors and fancy new barns, they care about turnout, being with their turnout buddies and having a full stomach. We believe that if we can meet the needs of your horse we can help you have a better experience with them when you are at the barn.
Horses at our facility are in small groups. Horses in individual turnout always have a horse nearby. Our turnout guidelines are simple and designed to help keep your horse safe, healthy and happy. Horses are grained two to three times per day, depending on their unique needs and hayed at least three times per day. Horses are fed according to their needs, not ours. We work with you to determine the best feed program for your horse.
We realize that moving can be a difficult time for both you and your horse. Although we have a farrier and vet we use for our program horses we are an open barn that allows you to use your own farrier and vet.
Most horses who come to our facility are fully integrated into the routine within a few weeks and owners usually see a calmer and more responsive horse within a few months.
Mooreland Equestrian Center is a special place for both horses and people. We offer excellent care for your horse and varied riding opportunities for you. Our 100’ by 220’ outdoor, lighted arena is the focal point of the riding program. We also offer a large trail ring and several smaller riding areas for your riding pleasure. Our bridle path that surrounds the property will be completed in 2011 giving you the opportunity to get outside of the ring.
You can also take advantage of our full education program, offering training, lessons and clinics to help expand your horse knowledge and riding expertise.
