Meet Jubilee

Sadly, Jubilee died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 after a short illness. He is buried on the property next to an old horse friend. He was our pony for the last part of his life. He was more than a great program pony, he was a teacher, friend and companion. My daughter still beamed when she rode him. Good fortune allowed him to be in his favorite place the week before he died. Everyone commented on how young he looked as he galloped around the upper field. The night before he died was spent with friends, human and equine, old and new.

As a young pony Jubilee took many young riders for exciting rides. He had done lessons, summer camp and showing. In the last year he was used for our smallest riders.

Jubilee was a gentle, dependable pony. Because of his chronic illness he had developed a long winter coat that curled when it got wet making him look even more lovable.  Jubilee was a serious horse, able to walk, trot, and canter. He was a favorite at the barn, a great size for anyone to learn about grooming and horse handling. Our youngest riders could lead Jubilee without worry. Jubilee also served as the welcoming committee for new horses. He was able to get along with just about any other animal giving them companionship, friendship and leadership.

Jubilee was overjoyed to be back at Mooreland Equestrian Center where he spent most of his life. He had been moving around more and was happy to move into the big upper field. I was told that he was even back in his old stall. What a happy accident!
