Non Mounted Skills
Grooming

Students will learn safe and proper grooming techniques. They will learn about bathing, braiding, trimming and how to do a basic health check.

Students will learn the names and the uses of brushes and how to care for them. We will review the different products available in today's market.
Tack

Students will learn about both english and western tack. They will learn the parts of tack, how to properly place and fit a saddle and how to do a simple safety check.

They will learn about safety items such as helmets, proper footware, jumping vests and safety stirrups.

Students will learn how to properly tack up and how to care for tack.
Ground Work

Students will learn the basic safety facts about handling horses on the ground and in the barn.

Students will learn how to safely catch, halter and lead a horse as well as how to safely work with the horse in its stall and in the barn.

We will be learning some ground exercies that help to make the pony strong, balanced and supple. These ground exercises are also an excellent exercise for rider use when mounted.

Students will learn about various strategies available to help keep the pony sound and calm.
