Our
riding program comprises three phases of equine education. Children as young as 6 months have had pony rides on our gentle and beautiful ponies. Because most of our riders are young we focus on helping them to develop a secure, balanced seat that will prepare them for any riding discipline. We focus on safety and fun. All riders are required to wear a helmet, we have helmets for your use on the farm.
Pony Rides - We try to offer pony rides at times when they are convenient for parents and their children. Pony rides are a great introduction to horses and riding. Pony rides last about 5 minutes and cost $5.
Lead Line Lessons - This is the next step for our youngest riders. It is also a great way for riders to build some more confidence before starting regular lessons. These lessons last 15 to 20 minutes. We cover the basics of riding in this program. $15
Private/Group Lessons - Traditional riding lesson for riders ages 5 and up. Students will learn the posting trot, more subtle communication with the horse through the various rider aids and beyond. Private lessons last 1/2 hour, group lessons last between 45 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the group. Students are expected to help tack up and un tack horses in the barn as well. $35
Rider Development Program - This is an intensive group experience generally done in the summer for 4 to 8 students. Each student receives a private 1/2 hour lesson or a 1 hour group lesson along with practice ride time on other horses or ponies. Students learn groundwork skills as well as how to care for a pony, properly groom a pony, and facility and paddock care. We offer this on warmer school holidays. We recommend doing this for a full week, however students can also participate on a daily basis. Confidence, riding and ground skills will reach a new level after a one week experience.
