Riding Skills
Pony Rides

Students become comfortable with the natural movement of the horse underneath them. We start moving, stop and turn through our fun trail course. Older students will trot on the flat and over ground poles.

We work with this group helping them to discover their own balance. We help them by encouraging them to sit up straight, relax their elbows and shoulders, and keep their hands quiet and still.

We work the horse in the rope halter and in the bridle for older students.
Private Lesson

For older students, typically age 6 or over and those lead line students we believe are ready to move forward.

Students will perfect the posting trot and their balanced seat. They learn more refined communication with the horse using all of the rider's aids ( reins, legs, body, voice). Students will learn how to control the horses speed as well as how to help the horse move in a balanced way.

Advanced students will learn to canter and to jump over cross rails as well as other pole work.

Students need to know their left and right. Students are encouraged to learn to tack up and cool down the pony they use with the help of our staff.
Lead Line Lesson

This is designed for the younger child who is too advanced for the simple pony ride but not yet ready for regular private lessons. This is also a good options for students who love being at the farm and on the ponies, but aren't yet serious about riding and showing.

We work more on balance, doing exercises with the student to help them develop a better seat.

We use the bridle and learn more about turning and stopping as well as backing. Some students will begin to post at the trot. We work on the flat and over ground poles. We work in the large ring playing games to help them develop better communication with the pony.

Students learn proper mounting and dismounting as well as the emergency dismount.
